This policy explains how Peninsula Honey ("we", "us") collects and uses your personal data when you contact us, place an order, or use our website. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Peninsula Honey is operated by Niamh Begley, a sole trader based at Mullabane, Carlingford, Co. Louth, Ireland. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at hello@peninsulahoney.ie.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to deal with you and your order:
- Contact details you give us, such as your name, email address and phone number.
- Order details, such as the products you ask for and any collection arrangements.
- Messages you send us by email or through any contact form.
- Limited technical data from the website (see our Cookie Policy).
We do not knowingly collect data from children, and we do not collect special-category data.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To take and fulfil your order and arrange collection — lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- To answer your enquiries — lawful basis: our legitimate interest in responding to you.
- To meet legal and tax obligations (for example, keeping sales records) — lawful basis: legal obligation.
- Optional website analytics — lawful basis: your consent (you can decline; see our Cookie Policy).
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We only share it where necessary, for example with a service provider that helps us run the website or process a payment, and only so they can carry out that task. We may disclose data if required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep order and sales records for as long as required by Irish tax law (generally six years). Enquiry emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with your query, after which they are deleted.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased, where it is no longer needed;
- restrict or object to how we use your data;
- data portability; and
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To exercise any of these, email hello@peninsulahoney.ie. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
