The Cooleys

Our Story.

Our hives sit above Carlingford Lough, in the foothills of the Cooley Mountains - the peninsula that gives this honey its name.

Niamh Begley has kept bees here at Mullabane for years. They forage the mountain heather, the hedgerow wildflowers and the ivy along the walls. What they find in a season goes into the jar.

The Range

Four Honeys.

Each one shaped by what the bees forage across the wild Cooley Peninsula.

Award‑ Winning.

In 2019, Peninsula Honey took the Most Points shield at the Louth Honey Show, with firsts, a second and thirds across categories at the County Dublin Beekeepers Association Honey Show.

These are peer-judged awards, assessed by experienced beekeepers on taste, clarity and set. You cannot buy your way onto the trophy table.

“The heather honey is something else, so dark and rich. Gorgeous on a cheeseboard with a sharp cheddar. Nothing like the stuff in the shops.”
